Job summary

GMCA seeks an experienced Networks Engineer to join its Digital Team and help deliver and support the network infrastructure that underpins critical services across the organisation.

You will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of secure, resilient, and high-performing network services, enabling effective delivery of digital services across GMCA.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in a relevant area or equivalent.
• Relevant professional qualification and CPD evidence.
• ITIL Intermediate certification relevant to the area.
• Experience across a range of solutions in the Local Government arena.
• Experience managing complex projects from inception to completion.
• Ability to analyse information and communicate with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of project management principles.
• Experience delivering a major upgrade affecting many users.

Responsibilities

• Support design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of network services.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contractors and external agencies on network solutions.
• Support network projects and contribute to project outcomes.
• Monitor performance, availability and security of network infrastructure.
• Assist with incident resolution, service requests and security alerts.
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge bases.
• Support testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity for networks.
• Mentor and transfer knowledge across teams and stakeholders.
