Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Control Centre Operator (Highways Control Room) to co-ordinate resources, plan day-to-day road repairs and support operations across the county. The role offers hybrid working with home-based duties and occasional on-site liaison within a friendly, experienced team.

You will analyse information from highway databases, programme repairs with cost and locality in mind, and provide timely information to colleagues and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways, civil engineering, or street lighting setting.
• Experience in programming or scheduling works and the control of resources.
• Resolving enquiries in real time, feeding back to customers and other stakeholders, and building positive relationships.
• Knowledge in using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services.
• Understanding of Current legislation, policies and procedures (e.g., Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act).
• Strong analytical and creative thinking skills; good spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resources and plan road repairs on a day-to-day basis.
• Program sign repairs across the county with cost, efficiency and locality in mind.
• Liaise with other teams and stakeholders, providing information as required.
• Receive full training and work within a supportive team environment.
• Operate in a hybrid, mostly home-based role with occasional site liaison.
