Job summary

IStructE Limited in Leicester is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to lead a team and drive the development and delivery of a multi-year asset management programme for the city’s highways.

You will manage budgets, chair meetings with internal and external teams, and present to politicians and senior managers. The role requires strong leadership, extensive highway/bridge maintenance experience, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• With strong leadership skills, you’ll have substantial experience of managing and guiding highway and engineering professionals in a busy highway work environment.
• A proven track record in programme, project and contractual management and an awareness of commercial practices within a construction environment.
• Extensive experience of highway and bridge maintenance and design specifications to guide your team and ensure that our assets are maintained appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Managing a team of 6 engineers and skilled transport professionals, you’ll lead on the development and delivery of our asset management programmes.
• You’ll provide technical guidance to your team and other teams in the council, manage budgets, and chair meetings with internal and external teams.
• You’ll present to politicians and senior management, as well as liaise with consultants, contractors, and members of the public.
• Working closely with your team, service managers, and senior highway service managers, you’ll ensure that our statutory duty is delivered and that the highway asset is maintained.
