Job summary

EMBL-EBI in Hinxton is hiring two Systems Administrators to deliver, maintain and develop Microsoft 365, Azure and hybrid cloud services. You will balance hands‑on administration with project delivery, service improvement and user support in a high‑calibre scientific environment.

You will join the IT Services (ITS) Service Desk team, supporting staff and visitors, delivering secure, reliable IT, and collaborating across IT to enable research and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in user support and Windows systems administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file/print services).
• Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 enterprise services and tenant configuration.
• Experience with Azure services, identity management and cloud infrastructure.
• Solid experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager / Intune and endpoint policies.
• Experience managing hybrid environments and migrations from on-prem to cloud or hybrid.
• Familiarity with IT service management processes and ticketing systems.
• Excellent written and spoken English, customer service skills, and project management ability.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, administer and maintain Microsoft 365, Azure and associated enterprise services.
• Administer Microsoft Endpoint Manager / Intune including device enrollment and compliance policies.
• Maintain hybrid infrastructure and support on‑premises AD, Windows servers, and VMware environments.
• Plan and implement Windows infrastructure projects and migrations to Microsoft 365/Azure.
• Monitor service performance and drive improvements across Windows infrastructure.
• Ensure IT security compliance and maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations.
• Troubleshoot issues, provide staff support and training for helpdesk staff and users.
• Assist in Linux desktop installation, administration and automation where required.
