Job summary

EMBL-EBI in Hinxton seeks two Systems Administrators to manage Microsoft 365, Azure and hybrid infrastructure, with Linux desktop support when needed. You will own Windows and cloud services, contribute to projects and provide strong user support across the scientific community.

The role focuses on securing, stabilising and improving IT services, leading migrations and collaborating with the IT Services (ITS) team to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
• Extensive experience in user support and Windows systems administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file/print, deployment tools).
• Strong experience administering Microsoft 365 enterprise services (tenant config, user/device support).
• Experience administering Azure services and identity management.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager / Intune (device enrolment, configuration, deployments, compliance).
• Experience designing and managing Microsoft 365/Azure tenants, hybrid environments and migrations from on-prem to cloud/hybrid.
• Knowledge of IT service management processes (incident/change/problem) and ticketing systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, English communications, customer service, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop Microsoft on-premises and cloud services (365, Azure, endpoints).
• Lead endpoint management with Intune, device enrolment and policy deployment.
• Maintain and support hybrid infrastructure including AD and Windows servers; VMware platforms.
• Plan and implement Windows infrastructure projects and migrations to 365/Azure.
• Monitor service performance and drive improvements.
• Ensure IT security compliance and maintain environment documentation.
• Provide end-user support and training to helpdesk staff and users.
• Support Linux desktop as needed and participate in broader IT functions.
