Job summary

Amey Consulting in the West Midlands invites applications for a permanent Bridges Engineer. Hybrid role with shared Birmingham office space; you will lead a design team on structures projects, mentor junior staff and drive deliverables from quotation through handover.

The role requires strong bridge design experience, CDM knowledge, and progression toward Incorporated/Chartered status. Collaboration with clients and suppliers, plus health and safety leadership, are key aspects of the job.

Qualifications

• Experience in structures, likely from an Assistant Engineer role.
• Ability to produce or oversee deliverables to standards.
• Good knowledge of CDM and risk assessment.
• Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IStructE is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team and deliver technically sound engineering solutions.
• Own projects from quotation to handover.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, documentation.
• Mentor junior staff and delegate tasks.
• Engage with clients and suppliers at peer level and attend progress meetings.
• Manage a small, locally based team and workloads.
• Contribute to bids and work-winning activities.
• Promote Health and Safety practices within the team.
