Job summary

Siemens Mobility in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Network Design Engineer to lead network, telecoms and security design across HS2 and related rail programmes. The role involves defining architectures, coordinating interfaces and ensuring design assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

This position requires strong leadership, extensive IP/MPLS and railway systems experience, plus ability to work with cross-functional teams, suppliers and stakeholders in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering/telecommunications/computer science discipline.
• Experience delivering IP/MPLS transmission networks in operational telecoms environments.
• Knowledge of railway or mission-critical infrastructure lifecycle and design assurance processes.
• Experience with design documentation suitable for IDC/IDR reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead HS2 network, telecoms and security design activities across HS2 and wider networks.
• Develop high-level and low-level architectures for secure, resilient telecoms and security systems.
• Coordinate interfaces with Signalling, SCADA, M&E and station systems; ensure traceability and governance.
• Prepare design evidence, respond to comments and manage technical close-out during assurance cycles.
• Produce architecture diagrams, system descriptions, and interface information.
