Job summary

Niyaa People is recruiting on behalf of a leading supported housing organisation in Coventry for an experienced Housing Support Officer. The role focuses on supporting residents facing homelessness and complex needs, using trauma-informed, strength-based approaches.

You will manage a caseload, develop outcome-focused plans, and work with external services to promote tenancy sustainment and independent living. A company car is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with homelessness, complex needs or multiple disadvantage.
• Experience in supported housing or homelessness services.
• Strong safeguarding, planning and risk management knowledge.
• Trauma-informed and strength-based approaches experience.
• Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading supported housing organisation for an experienced Housing Support Officer to join a specialist service in Coventry.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals experiencing homelessness, multiple disadvantage and complex needs, helping residents overcome barriers and move towards greater independence.

Key Responsibilities of a Housing Support Officer:

• Manage a caseload and provide high-quality one-to-one and group support.
• Build trusting relationships using strength-based and trauma-informed approaches.
• Develop and review outcome-focused support plans and risk assessments.
• Support residents with complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse and offending histories.
• Promote independent living, tenancy sustainment and positive move-on opportunities.
• Support residents with rent, benefits, budgeting and tenancy management.
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure safeguarding requirements are met.
• Work effectively with Local Authorities, Police, Probation, health services and other partner agencies.
• Support residents to develop practical housing and independent living skills.
• Work positively and proportionately with risk while maintaining a non-judgemental approach.

About You:

• Experience working with people experiencing homelessness, complex needs or multiple disadvantage.
• Experience within supported housing, homelessness, accommodation-based or similar services.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, support planning and risk management.
• Experience using trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.
• Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
• The ability to work confidently with residents and external professionals.
• A full UK driving licence.

Working Pattern:

The service operates Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm, with Housing Support Officers working on a shift rota covering these hours. The role also includes participation in an on-call rota covering weekends and Bank Holidays.
