Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a proactive Repairs Contracts Works Officer to support delivery and management of responsive repairs, maintenance, and capital works across the Council’s housing stock in the North of the City.

The role links contractors, internal teams and residents to ensure works are completed on programme, on budget and to required standards, contributing to safe, well-maintained homes.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in building, construction (e.g. ONC/D, BTEC in Construction, Building Surveying, Building Services, or demonstrable equivalent)
• Knowledge of housing repairs legislation, building maintenance standards, and landlord compliance responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the management and monitoring of repairs and maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy, and contractor contractual obligations.
• Strong technical knowledge, with the ability to diagnose building defects and specify solutions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships
• Experience managing contractors and ensuring high-quality service delivery
• Assist with contract performance management, including monitoring KPIs, service delivery, costs, and contractor compliance.
• Investigate customer complaints, councillor enquires, Ombudsman enquires, defects, and service failures, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
