Job summary

Home Group is seeking a Housing and Property Lead in Hartlepool. You will oversee tenancy support, ensuring safe, well-maintained homes and managing rent accounts while helping customers progress to secure long-term accommodation.

You will engage customers, assist with housing benefit claims, and handle tenancy actions when needed. A proactive, collaborative leader with strong organisation will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing a housing caseload and handle landlord and housing management duties.
• Know-how of re-letting of rooms or units, collecting rents, and taking formal tenancy action when needed.
• Able to take on a lead role within the team, offering guidance and support to your colleagues.
• The ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.
• A "can do" positive attitude, you're proactive and well organised, and able to work on your initiative.
• Confident working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business as well as with external partners.

Responsibilities

• Make sure customers' properties are homes they can be proud of and engage them in their tenancies.
• Assist customers with housing benefit claims and ensure they appear on rent accounts.
• Issue and sign warning letters and notices which may lead to attending court.
• Turn around vacant or void rooms/properties within set timescales for maximum occupancy.
• Ensure health and safety compliance and maintenance standards are met.
• Work Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, based in Hartlepool and travel to local properties.
• Use technology to create/update support plans, make benefit claims, and complete tenancy sign-ups.
• Business mileage is paid for travel between properties.
• Enhanced DBS check will be completed and paid by the company.

This is a great opportunity to join our team. As our Housing and Property Lead, you'll focus on tenancy support for our customers, ensuring their homes are safe and well maintained. Providing a housing management service, you'll support them to manage and maintain their tenancy and rent accounts with the aim of helping them move on to a secure, long-term accommodation!

What You'll Do

• Making sure that our customers properties are homes they can be proud of, you'll support your customers by engaging and involving them in their tenancies.
• Help our customers with housing benefit claims, making sure that these are received on their rent account.
• Where there is a need, you'll also issue and sign warning letters and notices which may lead to attending court.
• Getting rooms ready for the next customers who needs our help and for maximum occupancy, you'll turn around vacant or void rooms / bed spaces / properties within set timescales.
• Ensuring we are health and safety compliant and that maintenance standards are met.

You have

The practical bits

• You'll work Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
• Based in Hartlepool, you'll spend time travelling around our properties in the local area, supporting customers who have low to medium needs with tenancy based support.
• Able to use technology for creating and updating support plans, making benefit claims and doing tenancy signs ups,
• To get from A to B, you'll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we'll pay your mileage!
• You'll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
