Job summary

Home Group is seeking a Housing and Property Lead in the Middlesbrough area to drive tenancy support and ensure safe, well-maintained homes. You will manage rent accounts, support residents and handle tenancy actions as required.

You will work across seven days on a rota; typical hours are 8am–8pm, and you will use tech to update support plans and manage benefit claims. DBS checks are paid by us.

Qualifications

  • Experience in managing a housing caseload and handle landlord and housing management duties.
  • Know-how of re-letting of rooms or units, collecting rents, and taking formal tenancy action when needed.
  • Able to take on a lead role within the team, offering guidance and support to your colleagues.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure customers' properties are homes they can be proud of by engaging with them in their tenancies.
  • Assist customers with housing benefit claims ensuring these are reflected on rent accounts.
  • Issue and sign warning letters and notices which may lead to attending court when needed.
  • Turn around vacant rooms/bed spaces/properties within set timescales for maximum occupancy.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance and that maintenance standards are met.
  • Work on a rota across 7 days with weekends shared across the team; usual hours 8am–8pm.

This is a great opportunity to join our team. As our Housing and Property Lead, you’ll focus on tenancy support for our customers, ensuring their homes are safe and well maintained. Providing a housing management service, you’ll support them to manage and maintain their tenancy and rent accounts with the aim of helping them move on to a secure, long-term accommodation!

What You’ll Do
  • Making sure that our customers properties are homes they can be proud of, you’ll support your customers by engaging and involving them in their tenancies.
  • Help our customers with housing benefit claims, making sure that these are received on their rent account.
  • Where there is a need, you’ll also issue and sign warning letters and notices which may lead to attending court.
  • Getting rooms ready for the next customers who needs our help and for maximum occupancy, you’ll turn around vacant or void rooms / bed spaces / properties within set timescales.
  • Ensuring we are health and safety compliant and that maintenance standards are met.

You have

  • Confident working collaboratively with colleagues in other parts of the business as well as with external partners
The practical bits
  • Working on a rota across 7 days of the week, weekends will be shared equally across the team. Usual working hours are between 8am and 8pm (7.5 hours a day)
  • Based at our services across the Middlesbrough area, you’ll be supporting customers who have complex mental health needs and secondary diagnosis of either a learning disability, autism spectrum or neurological condition.
  • This is a busy service where no two days will be the same!
  • Able to use technology for creating and updating support plans, making benefit claims and doing tenancy signs ups

You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
