Job summary

West Lothian Council is seeking a proactive Housing Assistant to join our Housing, Customer & Building Services team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will deliver a high-quality housing management service, supporting tenants and contributing to sustainable communities.

This hybrid role requires strong communication, tenancy management experience, and the ability to apply council policies while working with colleagues across HCBS. A CIH Level 2 qualification or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Ability to record and report information accurately in writing and verbally.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload; strong IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide tenancy management support to achieve sustainable tenancies and prevent arrears.
• Offer comprehensive housing advice and personal housing planning for tenants and new customers.
• Collaborate with HCBS/Council teams to deliver high-standard services.
• Ensure policies and procedures are implemented to required standards.
