The Vacancy

Brand new development opening

An exciting opportunity exists as House Manager for our new development, opening in Autumn 2025 in Erdington, West Midlands. This development targets a new market, offering affordable retirement living for those aged 55 and over.

Botham Place will feature low-maintenance, energy-efficient, privately owned apartments designed to support homeowners in enjoying their retirement years.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £24,333.93 per annum

About the Role of a House Manager

We seek a customer-focused House Manager to uphold high-quality service standards. Your main role is to enhance our homeowners' quality of life and support their independence. This diverse role involves customer service, front of house, and facilities management. You will build a strong community through event coordination and regular meetings to communicate updates and address residents' priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcoming new homeowners and supporting their settlement.
  • Providing professional front of house service and managing visitors.
  • Being the first point of contact for homeowners, offering support and advice.
  • Collaborating with partners and suppliers for smooth estate operation.
  • Representing McCarthy Stone to families and friends of homeowners.
  • Handling homeowner issues with sensitivity, respecting privacy.
  • Managing gardens and grounds to ensure a safe, secure, and pleasant environment.
  • Performing light cleaning duties.
  • Facilitating social interactions and promoting retirement living enjoyment.
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
Candidate Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Professional approach with high standards.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, varied environment.
  • Resilience and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Basic health and safety awareness.
  • Computer literacy, including Word and Outlook.
  • First aid qualifications are advantageous but training will be provided.
