Job Overview

Are you an experienced HR Advisor looking for your next career move? HMP Millsike is seeking an HR professional to partner with the onsite management team and manage the day-to-day delivery of the People team. As the onsite HR Manager, you will work closely with line managers, supporting the full employee lifecycle. Collaborating with the Senior People Business Partner, you will drive HR initiatives to align business objectives with HR strategies. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the annual resourcing plan, analyzing attrition data, and recruitment forecasting.

You will oversee high-volume recruitment for operational roles, manage Assessment Centres, and ensure a high standard of onboarding, delivering a positive candidate journey. Additionally, you will:

  • Support and develop line managers through training and coaching on internal Mitie HR processes.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on ER case management in conjunction with the wider Mitie People team.
  • Develop and nurture talent, including succession planning across HMP Millsike.
  • Manage compliance, working with right-to-work teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Security Vetting teams, monitoring vetting levels to ensure compliance with HMPPS standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate people data to assist in compiling monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
  • Coach managers to develop a culture supporting mental health, occupational health, and employee welfare.
  • Enhance employee engagement through communication, morale initiatives, and survey action plans.
  • Collaborate with the Wellbeing Manager to promote colleague wellbeing through events and community activities.
  • Maintain communication and relationships with key stakeholders across the business.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as an HR professional at advisory level, capable of working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in M365 tools including MS Teams, SharePoint, and SAP.
  • Resilience and ability to influence decision-makers and challenge when necessary.
  • Ability to drive HR initiatives with line managers.
  • Strong communication skills, confident and articulate.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service, establishing credibility and trust quickly.
  • Capability to deliver difficult messages effectively.
  • Decisiveness and follow-through.
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience managing high-volume recruitment and Assessment Centres.
  • Ability to deliver HR training across various topics and skill levels.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
