Job summary

Kier Group in Birmingham is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Planner to join our Highways Maintenance Contract team based at Thimble Mill Lane. The 8-month fixed-term contract offers 40 hours per week and a salary of £30,000–£32,000 per year plus excellent benefits.

You will develop, maintain and monitor programmes to ensure successful delivery of our capital works, optimise resource allocation, and mitigate risks to deliver projects on time, within budget and in governance compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways maintenance, infrastructure, or construction projects.
• Proven ability to develop and manage capital works programmes.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; effective stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring alignment of individual project timelines with overall programme objectives and tracking progress against milestones
• Planning and allocating resources effectively across multiple projects, identifying gaps and proposing solutions
• Preparing reports and dashboards for stakeholders and senior leadership
• Identifying scheduling conflicts and risks early, recommending corrective actions and contingency plans
• Liaising with project managers, contractors, and internal teams whilst maintaining programme compliance with streetworks permits
