Job summary

Kier Group in Birmingham is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will help deliver highway services across the Birmingham network, handling reactive and improvement works to keep roads safe and well-maintained.

The role requires a driving licence and Streetworks qualifications, with duties including incident response, routine maintenance, plant operation, and accurate digital record-keeping, all while maintaining customer care and safety.

Qualifications

• Capable of working under pressure in a safety-critical role.
• Confident in communicating with a range of stakeholders.
• Able to work as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents on the network within designated timescales, liaising with emergency services.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to the network using plant and equipment.
• Operate a variety of plant and equipment and keep site and equipment secure.
• Use digital systems to provide accurate records of works carried out.
• Promote customer care by treating the public and clients politely and professionally.
