Exciting Opportunity in Forensic Neurodevelopmental Services

We are pleased to offer an exciting full‑time position that spans two closely integrated services: the Oxleas Forensic Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disability (FIND) Community Team and the inpatient forensic service at the Bracton Centre. This role is equally divided between the two services, with 18.75 hours per week dedicated to each. Part‑time hours can be considered.

About the FIND Community Team

The Oxleas FIND Team plays a pivotal role in supporting individuals transitioning from inpatient forensic settings back into the community, delivering specialist assessment, treatment, and consultation to support the safe and clinically appropriate reintegration of individuals with complex needs.

About the Bracton Centre Inpatient Forensic Service

Located in Kent, the Bracton Centre offers comprehensive specialist forensic mental health services for adults aged 18‑65, providing high‑quality multidisciplinary care to individuals with significant mental health needs within a secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, intervention, and consultation for individuals with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities involved in the criminal justice system or presenting with forensic risk.
  • Work proactively with multidisciplinary colleagues to support service users in the least restrictive environments possible, focusing on risk reduction, communication accessibility, and meaningful engagement in community life.
  • Support individuals through rehabilitation and recovery pathways in the inpatient component, contributing to risk assessments, care planning, and discharge preparations.
  • Conduct, interpret, and report on specialist assessments, including capacity to consent assessments in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and care planning, including positive behaviour support.
  • Maintain clinical records to high standards, ensuring compliance with trust policy and local standards.
  • Act as a core member of multidisciplinary teams, representing the service at meetings and providing specialist advice to families, other therapists, and professionals.
  • Support and supervise junior therapy colleagues, students, and other relevant staff.
  • Engage in evidence‑based practice, auditing, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and professional development to staff and carers, tailoring information to varying communication needs.
  • Adopt and uphold professional and organisational standards, including adherence to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy and local policies.
