Job summary

A leading transport company in England is seeking an experienced HGV technician to maintain commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standards. The role involves routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and compliance with Health and Safety regulations. Ideal candidates should have a technical qualification, a driving license, and excellent customer care skills. Working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with alternating shifts.

Job description
Overview

Working hours: 40 hours - Monday to Friday, alternating by week between 6:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift.

The HGV technician’s role within TruckEast is to be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to MOT standard.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of faults
  • Attend disabled vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made, all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses
  • Provide cover on rota system for breakdown cover
Qualifications
  • Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician), or knowledge gained through hands-on workshop experience
  • Current driving licence
  • Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
  • Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines
