Job summary

Interaction Technical is recruiting an HGV Technician (Days) for a modern Grimsby workshop, servicing a predominantly Scania fleet. You will carry out planned servicing, inspections and repairs to maximise fleet reliability in a professional environment.

The role offers a £38,000-£43,000 salary, a 2 on/2 off/3 on/3 off rota, overtime paid at 1.3x, and training opportunities including manufacturer and technical courses.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV/Commercial Vehicle Technician.
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles.
• Experience working on Scania vehicles advantageous.
• Good understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing, inspections and preventive maintenance on a fleet of predominantly Scania HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults.
• Complete routine maintenance and repairs in line with manufacturer standards.
• Strip, inspect and rebuild major vehicle components including engines, gearboxes, differentials and braking systems.
• Conduct vehicle testing and fault-finding to ensure maximum fleet reliability and compliance.
• Complete safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT and DVSA requirements.
• Record maintenance activities accurately through workshop management systems.
• Support workshop efficiency by maintaining high-quality workmanship and productivity standards.
• Work collaboratively with fellow technicians and workshop management to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Adhere to all company health & safety procedures and best engineering practices.

Hours: Continental Shift Pattern

• 06:00am - 6:00pm
• 1.5-hour unpaid break
• 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 3 off rota
• Overtime available and paid at 1.3x hourly rate

Overtime Earnings Potential:

Based on a £43,000 salary:

• 5 hours per week overtime: Approx. £45,500 per annum
• 10 hours per week overtime: Approx. £48,000 per annum
• 15 hours per week overtime: Approx. £50,500+ per annum

The Role:

The Requirements:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician (essential).
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification or equivalent (essential).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy commercial vehicles.
• Proven ability to strip, inspect and rebuild vehicle components.
• Experience working on Scania vehicles would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a busy workshop team.
