Job summary

Interaction Technical is hiring an experienced HGV Technician to join their Scunthorpe workshop. The role involves servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles, with overtime and progression opportunities.

The position offers a basic salary of £47,000 with a realistic OTE of £55,000-£60,000+ per year, plus overtime paid at 1.5x and a comprehensive benefits package. Rotating shifts include weekends on a 1 in 3 Saturday rotation.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician or PSV/Commercial Vehicle Technician is essential.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on heavy vehicles.
• Experience servicing, inspecting and repairing HGV fleets.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults efficiently.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, defect reporting and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Strip, inspect and rebuild components including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspensions and brakes.
• Test and fault-find to ensure DVSA and company standards are met.
• Complete repairs to manufacturer specifications.
• Attend breakdowns and provide roadside assistance on a rota.
• Undertake mobile maintenance and repair work at customer sites on a rota.
• Accurately complete job cards and maintenance documentation.

Hours: Rotating Shift Pattern

• Week 1: Monday to Friday, 06:00am - 2:30pm
• Weeks 2 & 3: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 8:00pm
• 1 in 3 Saturdays: 06:00am - 2:00pm (paid at 1.5x rate)

The Role:

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults efficiently.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, defect reporting and preventative maintenance activities.
• Strip, inspect and rebuild vehicle components including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspensions and braking systems.
• Perform testing and fault-finding to ensure vehicles meet DVSA and company compliance standards.
• Complete repair and maintenance work to manufacturer specifications.
• Attend breakdowns and provide roadside assistance as part of a rota system.
• Undertake mobile maintenance and repair work at customer sites on a rota basis.
• Accurately complete job cards, service sheets and maintenance documentation.

The Requirements:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or PSV Technician (essential).
• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent (essential).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on commercial vehicles.
• Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs on HGV fleets.
• Ability to strip and rebuild major vehicle components.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• HGV Licence (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team.
• Flexible and proactive attitude towards breakdown, call-out and mobile repair work.
