Job summary

Interaction Recruitment are seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their Peterborough operation. The role offers stability, strong earning potential (£41,600 to £52,000 per annum) and opportunities for long-term progression, with a 4 on/4 off shift pattern.

You will conduct inspections, fault-finding diagnostics, servicing and repairs, and prepare vehicles for MOT testing, while maintaining a clean, safe workshop and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Qualified HGV technician with relevant Level 3 HVSA/maintenance background.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities across HGV fleets.
• Proven ability to service, maintain and repair to high standards.
• Excellent communication and team-working skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle inspections and fault-finding diagnostics.
• Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs to a high standard.
• Prepare HGVs for MOT testing and ensure paperwork is complete.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and manage workload efficiently.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, your duties will include:

• Conducting vehicle inspections and fault‑finding diagnostics.
• Completing servicing, maintenance, and repairs to a high standard.
• Preparing HGVs for MOT testing.
• Working efficiently to manage your workload and maintain productivity.
• Liaising with the Workshop Manager to ensure parts are ordered and delivered promptly.
• Maintaining a clean, safe working environment and ensuring equipment longevity.
• Completing all required documentation accurately for each job carried out.

Required Skills & Competencies

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance qualification
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience across a varied HGV fleet
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
• Capability to deliver servicing to manufacturer and main dealer standards
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
