Job summary

Evri in Oxford is hiring a HGV Driver Class 1 to operate our modern Volvo fleet on night shifts. You will drive between regional hubs, often during a 9-hour shift, with home time after each shift. The role includes trunking, occasional loading/unloading, and cargo scanning responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Class 1 driving licence as a minimum.
• Driver CPC qualification card.
• Completed required DCPC training hours or working towards them.
• Excellent knowledge of road transport laws and safe-road practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from our Volvo fleet (vehicles <4 years) to regional hubs on night shifts.
• Plan and execute trunking to regional hubs, often on 9-hour shifts.
• Assist with scanning consignments and occasional pallet truck driving where required.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily; raise a Defect Report if needed.

Salary: £42798.60 + Nights allowance of 50p per hour worked between 10pm and 6am.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and9-hourshifts per day which typically start at5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches - but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
