Job summary

Hermes UK is seeking a HGV Driver Class 1 - Linehaul in Milton Keynes. You will operate a modern Volvo truck on night trunking routes across regional hubs, typically within a 9-hour shift. This role offers a 45-hour week and shift patterns starting around 5–6pm, with paid nights uplift.

You’ll be responsible for vehicle checks, pallet and cargo handling, and complying with road transport laws. The position is based at Milton Keynes and includes benefits such as annual leave and career

Qualifications

• Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum.
• Driver CPC qualification card.
• Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them.
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and safe use of the roads.

Responsibilities

• Trunking to regional hubs on the night shift.
• Plan routes and drive long distances, home after every 9-hour shift.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and file a Defect Report if necessary.
• Scan consignments and drive pallet trucks when required.

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and9-hourshifts per day which typically start at5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches - but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
