Job summary

Hermes in Enfield requires an HGV Class 1 driver for a 45-hour week with 9-hour shifts. You’ll operate a near-new Volvo fleet, with loading/unloading duties at some sites and pallet-truck scanning. Daily vehicle checks and defect reporting are expected. London weighting applies; generous annual leave and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

• Class 1 driving licence is required.
• Driver CPC qualification is required.

• Excellent knowledge of road transport laws and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles to delivery sites.
• Unload and load at sites where required; scan consignments and use pallet trucks.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and file a defect report if needed.
• Ensure timely delivery and keep within 9-hour shifts.

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, sothere’splenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - butyou’llstill be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
