Job summary

Royal Mail West Midlands Workshop in West Bromwich is seeking a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician on a permanent contract with a strong focus on safety and quality.

You’ll work a 39.5 hour week across rotating shifts, with overtime opportunities and a competitive package including pension, holidays, and exclusive discounts. You’ll gain hands-on experience across diverse makes and models, from light to heavy vehicles, in a modern workshop.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic with Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle.
• Experience on a range of vehicles including LCV/HGV.
• Full manual UK driving licence (HGV with trailer preferred).
• Flexible to rotating shifts and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Use personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on light/heavy vehicles.
• Utilise specialist workshop tooling and shared equipment in modern bays.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at West Midlands Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k including overtime.

Working Hours:

Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:30, week 2: 06:00 - 14:30 and week 3: 14:00 - 22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off). Optional Sunday overtime is available.

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A Bit About You

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
