Job summary

Royal Mail Group is hiring a Level 3 qualified vehicle technician for the Sheffield Workshop on a permanent contract. You will work in a busy fleet workshop with opportunities to earn overtime up to £60k and a competitive package.

The role runs full time with structured shifts, provides PPE, a pension scheme and staff benefits, and offers career development through training and development plans. You will service a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic at advanced level (Level 3) in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Own toolkit for standard repairs and maintenance.
• UK driving licence, ideally HGV with trailer experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles and equipment.
• Utilise personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs in a modern workshop.
• Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in the workshop.

We're recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Sheffield Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £60k including overtime.

Working Hours

• Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) Rotating shift pattern;
• week 1: 06:00 - 14:30 Monday to Friday
• week 2: 13:30 - 22:00 Monday to Friday
• week 3: 08:00 - 16:30 Wednesday to Sunday
• week 4: 06:00 - 14:30 Monday to Friday
• week 5: 13:30 - 22:00 Monday to Friday
• week 6: 08:00 - 16:30 Tuesday - Thursday and Saturday and Sunday

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you're able to work on a flexible shift rota. You're always willing to support your team where necessary.
