Job summary

Royal Mail in Huntingdon is seeking a Level 3 qualified mechanic for the Huntingdon Workshop on a permanent contract. You’ll maintain our fleet, perform inspections, diagnostics and repairs across a variety of vehicles, with overtime that can push earnings up to £58k.

Full-time, 39.5 hours per week, rotating shifts (early and late) with 1 in 3 Saturdays. You’ll need a UK manual driving licence, your own toolkit, and a commitment to high standards in a modern workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic to advanced Level 3 in Light or Heavy Vehicle.
• Experience on a wide range of vehicles, including LCVs.
• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Flexible to service demands and shift rota.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Use your own toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repairs.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Huntingdon Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £58k including overtime.

Working Hours:

Full time - 39.5 hours per week hours per week (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:24, week 2: 13:36 - 22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off)

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
