Job summary

Royal Mail Group in West Bromwich is seeking a Level 3 Vehicle Technician for our West Midlands Workshop on a permanent, full-time basis. You will work across a broad fleet, carrying out inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs.

The package includes a base salary of £40,906, plus a weekly shift allowance of £90.21 for the 14:00-22:00 shift and a weekend supplement. There are excellent pension and development opportunities and PPE is provided.

Qualifications

• Advanced Level 3 qualification in light or heavy vehicles.
• Own toolkit required for standard repairs.
• Valid UK manual driving licence; HGV licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment.
• Utilise your own toolkit and shared workshop tools for routine tasks.
• Work in a modern, fully equipped workshop maintaining a large fleet.

We're recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at West Midlands Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:30, week 2: 06:00 - 14:30 and week 3: 14:00 - 22:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off). Optional Sunday overtime is available.

• You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
• You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
• You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

A bit about you

• Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
• Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
• Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
• High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
• Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
