Job Summary

We are looking to recruit into a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant (Heightened Surveillance team) who can work across ward in-patient areas and is able to work flexible according to the needs of the service which may include a mix of long days, nights and/or Monday-Friday.

The Heightened Surveillance Team HCA work on different areas to provide enhanced care and supervision to either an individual patient or group of patients. They also support the delivery of nursing care in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The work of this Healthcare Assistant may move across the Medicine wards due to patient needs.

Main Duties

We are looking for motivated and confident staff, committed to delivering a high standard of nursing care. This will involve working with patients who may have heightened supervision or support needs.

You will be required to work alongside our nursing staff to deliver safe and effective patient care, following best practice guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Nursing care will require excellent communication and engagement skills, the ability to deliver therapeutic patient activities, to de‑escalate and deal with potentially challenging situations and people.

To assist, under supervision with the delivery of nursing care in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.

To act as a role model and foster a culture in which compassionate, personalised care is delivered consistently to vulnerable patients requiring one to one care or enhanced care.

Qualifications (Essential)
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent training essential
Knowledge (Desirable)
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology & patient confidentiality
  • Ability to express an understanding of the key principles of infection control
  • Ability to express an understanding of audit
