We have an 18 month fixed term contract available

Office Location

Office Location : Birmingham (B5 4UA) with hybrid working based 4 days per week in the office and 1 day per week from home

The Role

The Health, Safety and Facilities Workplace Manager role has an important and valuable contribution to enable us to deliver on our goals and regulatory commitments.

You’ll manage all aspects of health & safety, facilities operations, and workplace management across all company locations (Birmingham, London and Cardiff). The role ensures a safe, compliant, efficient, and engaging workplace environment that supports productivity, employee wellbeing, and operational success. This is a multi‑disciplinary role that combines responsibilities across health and safety compliance, facilities management, and workplace operations.

This role has line management responsibility for a small team who support in workplace management.

Key Deliverables
Health & Safety Management
  • Develop, implement, and review company‑wide Health & Safety (H&S) policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., HSE regulations).
  • Act as the appointed H&S Competent Person and provide expert advice to management and employees.
  • Lead incident investigation, reporting, and root cause analysis for all H&S issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments (fire, DSE, manual handling, COSHH, etc.) and ensure control measures are in place.
  • Deliver training, inductions, and awareness campaigns on H&S topics.
Facilities Management
  • Oversee all facilities services including maintenance, cleaning, security, utilities, waste, and building management systems.
  • Manage service contracts, procurement, and relationships with third‑party suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory building regulations (e.g., fire safety, water hygiene, electrical testing).
  • Monitor and manage budgets for facilities operations and CAPEX projects.
  • Budgeting and cost control for facilities‑related expenditures.
  • Ensure sustainability and energy efficiency in building operations.
Workplace Operations
  • Drive initiatives to create a high‑quality, inclusive, and productive working environment for staff.
  • Support with planning and managing office moves, refurbishments, and space optimization strategies (e.g., hybrid working layouts).
  • Lead sustainability initiatives within the workplace (energy use, waste reduction, wellbeing design).
  • Foster a positive workplace culture, including wellness initiatives and ergonomic improvements.
  • Create and maintain a safe, comfortable, and productive working environment.
About You

Below are some of the key essential experience, skills & knowledge required for this post :

  • 1. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety [Lead Criterion].
  • 2. Proven experience in health & safety, facilities and workplace management in a multi‑site or complex environment [Lead Criterion].
  • 3. Proven track record in developing, implementing, and managing health and safety policies in the workplace.
  • 4. Project management experience in planning and delivering workplace and facilities projects (e.g. office fit‑outs, relocations).
  • 5. Experience managing budgets, contracts, and service providers.
  • 6. Experience in managing day‑to‑day operations of building facilities (HVAC, cleaning, security, maintenance, etc.).
  • 7. Skilled in procuring services and managing supplier performance against KPIs and SLAs.
