Plymouth City Council is seeking an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to apply their admin and coordination skills in a meaningful role where they can help shape a safe and supportive working environment for all.

About the Role

As a key member of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) team, you\'ll play a crucial part in delivering projects and services that promote wellbeing and ensure compliance with health and safety standards across the organisation.

You\'ll work closely with the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing and advisors to coordinate activities, maintain our safety systems, support audits, and provide first-line support to employees on HSW matters.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy and policy
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff queries on HSW matters
  • Maintain and monitor the SHE Assure system, ensuring RIDDOR compliance
  • Triage and respond to emails via the team\'s shared inbox
  • Coordinate audits, meetings, casework and maintain up-to-date HSW records
  • Draft reports, analyse safety data, and record meeting actions
  • Support the promotion of a positive HSW culture across the organisation
  • Assist in the planning and tracking of HSW projects and activities
  • Represent the Council in external forums, e.g., South West Councils Safety Panels
