Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Redbridge 0-19 Health Improvement Team – working primarily with 0-1 year olds, supporting families with their feeding journey. You may be required to support the Healthy Weight/Healthy Lifestyle team with activities such as Introduction to Solids, Healthy Weight sessions and the National Child Measurement Programme.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a comprehensive, effective and culturally sensitive service to clients delivering the Healthy Child Programme.
  • Support families with their infant feeding journeys.
  • Predominantly support the delivery of feeding cafés, referrals and education sessions focusing on six high‑impact areas, starting from antenatal workshops, breastfeeding and promoting healthy weight and eating habits within the 0-19 population.
  • Support the development, in partnership, of specific programmes for children and families.
  • With the support of the 0-19 service develop a whole‑family approach enabling families and children to make healthier lifestyle choices and empower them to access information and support.
  • Give telephone support, advice and information.
  • Take a key role in supporting starter solid‑food groups and accessing clients through feeding groups, clinics and children’s centres.
  • Understand the barriers to making healthy choices and be able to support families.
  • Support health‑promotion activities within the team, raising awareness of healthy eating.
  • Participate in activities as directed by the Team Lead or Operational Lead to promote healthy eating.
  • While a driving licence is not essential, you must be prepared and able to travel across the borough.
Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless you are an internal applicant who is currently part‑way through a probationary period or you are a bank member of staff.

High‑Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) pro rata for part‑time staff.

Induction and Onboarding

New starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undergo a comprehensive induction lasting up to two weeks, which will include mandatory training, systems training and allocation of equipment. During this process you will also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction is held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
