Overview

Health & Safety Advisor based in Manchester (with travel across sites). Salary £40,000 - £50,000 + company car. Join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering projects across highways, energy, and wider civil infrastructure sectors. The role supports project teams and aims to raise safety standards across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across multiple projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies.
  • Support project managers and site teams with method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training, and safety briefings to site staff.
  • Promote and embed a proactive health & safety culture across all sites.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulators as required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma preferred, though NEBOSH General Certificate with strong industry experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience within civil engineering (highways, utilities, or energy infrastructure desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction HSE practices.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage site teams at all levels.
  • Flexibility to travel between sites, with some staying away when required.
