Job summary

A leading charitable organization is seeking a Head of Supported Living to oversee and develop services for adults with learning disabilities. The role includes ensuring compliance with standards, managing a budget, and fostering relationships with stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have strong leadership in health and social care, experience in service redesign, and the ability to work effectively across a hybrid model. This full-time position is based in Newnham-on-Severn and requires regular travel to associated communities in the region.

Job description
Head of Supported Living

Fixed‑term contract up to 12 months, salary £62,000 per annum plus expenses. Location: Newnham‑on‑Severn / Stourbridge with travel to visit our communities in Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire and Worcestershire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and develop supported living services for adults with learning disabilities.
  • Ensure services are person‑centred, high‑quality and fully compliant with regulatory and organisational standards.
  • Lead culture and change, building transparent relationships with authorities, commissions and private markets.
  • Deliver significant growth, managing a substantial budget and seeking new growth opportunities aligned to business strategy.
  • Drive service redesign and transformation, embedding change through powerful communication and engagement.
  • Lead teams across a wide geographical location using a hybrid working model.
Essential Qualifications
  • Safeguarding Adults Level 5 or equivalent (desirable).
  • Leadership in Health and Social Care Level 5 or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience leading housing management services within supported living.
  • Knowledge of Care Quality Commission regulations as they relate to supported living.
  • Experience working and leading teams in not‑for‑profit and voluntary sector organisations delivering services for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Coaching and mentoring for success.
  • Significant budget management responsibilities.
  • Experience seeking new growth opportunities aligned to business strategy.
  • Successful service redesign and transformation, in particular lean thinking and other typical models.
  • Experience leading teams to embed change through powerful communication and engagement.
  • Experience developing and implementing policy and procedure.
  • Experience leading teams over a wide geographical location combining hybrid working styles.
Location & Travel

The role will cover our communities at Stourbridge (West Midlands), Grange Village & Oaklands Park (Gloucestershire) and St Albans & Delrow, Watford (Hertfordshire). You will be based at one of the communities within the region with regular travel between communities. Due to frequent travel, someone in the Stourbridge (West Midlands) or Gloucestershire areas would be suited. Please note you will be required to travel every week and spend a few days at each community a month. You will be required to attend quarterly leadership away days and other meetings which will require overnight stays.
