Head of Compliance

Location: Liverpool - Office Based

Salary: £75,000

Industry: Claims Management / Financial Services

Reports To: COO

We’re hiring for a Claims Management business in Liverpool City Centre who are now looking to appoint an experienced Head of Compliance. This is a key senior hire for the organisation and offers the opportunity to take full ownership of the compliance function during an exciting period of expansion.

As a seasoned compliance leader with a strong understanding of FCA regulation and experience operating in a highly regulated environment, this is a role where you can truly make an impact and help shape the future of the business.

Role

As Head of Compliance, you’ll lead the compliance function and ensure the business maintains full FCA compliance across all areas of its Claims Management operations. You’ll set the compliance strategy, develop robust policies, oversee regulatory reporting, and drive a strong culture of compliance across the organisation. This is a hands‑on and highly influential role working closely with the COO and senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the compliance team, embedding a culture of high standards and accountability
  • Ensure full FCA compliance across claims handling, customer communication, data protection, and financial processes
  • Develop and maintain all internal compliance policies and procedures
  • Take ownership of all regulatory reporting and act as the main point of contact with the FCA
  • Proactively identify and manage regulatory risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies
  • Oversee internal compliance audits and investigations
  • Deliver training and ongoing regulatory awareness to staff at all levels
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership, legal, operations, and risk teams to ensure compliance is embedded business-wide
  • Implement and manage a robust compliance monitoring framework
  • Keep the business ahead of regulatory changes and industry developments
What We’re Looking For

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a compliance role within Claims Management or financial services
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA regulations and requirements
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and inspire a compliance team
  • Excellent analytical, risk management, and problem‑solving skills
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at senior level
  • Experience with compliance systems, reporting tools, and regulatory frameworks
  • Relevant compliance qualifications (ICA, ACAMS etc.) are desirable but not essential

Desirable

  • Experience in claims management, consumer credit, or another highly regulated sector
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and data protection within a claims environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
