Job summary

Actian is seeking a highly technical Tech Lead to guide a small feature team of 3–4 engineers. You will write code, architect backend systems, and mentor by example while delivering SaaS features using Scala, Python, and TypeScript.

We value builders who ship with quality and understand the business goals. In this role you own the technical execution, enable multi-tenant cloud delivery, and advocate for AI coding agents to accelerate velocity without sacrificing quality.

Qualifications

• Deep backend engineering experience building and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Strong production-proven experience writing code in Scala; Python or TypeScript are a big plus.
• Deep experience using AI coding agents in day-to-day work; ability to prompt and review AI-generated code.
• Builder mindset; loves writing code and shipping features over management paperwork.
• Product empathy and collaboration with product owners.
• High-agency leadership with responsibility for team output.
• Exceptional English communication, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding and execution on complex technical challenges.
• Technical stack mastery with Scala, Python, and TypeScript for backend and full-stack work.
• Advocate and use AI coding agents to accelerate velocity while maintaining quality.
• Own technical execution and multi-tenant cloud delivery for production features.
• Mentor 3–4 engineers through pair programming and code reviews.
• Partner with Product Managers to refine features and translate ideas into tasks.
• Ensure production health, security, and reliability in the cloud.
