Job summary

IPS Finance in Wakefield seeks an experienced Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance for an acquisitive group. You will manage a five-person team, delivering timely management accounts and partnering with the FD on budgeting, cash flow and strategic planning.

The role combines financial control, management reporting and system development as the group grows through acquisitions, including the Sage to Sage Intacct transition.

Qualifications

• Qualified or QBE accountant with strong financial control experience.
• Hands-on, commercially minded with ownership of day-to-day finance.
• Experience in SME or group environments and collaborating with senior management.
• Experience with Sage and transition to Sage Intacct.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a finance team of five.
• Produce monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Support the FD with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial planning.
• Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, payments, invoicing and reconciliations.
• Maintain strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity.
• Monitor income, expenditure, profitability and cash flow across the group.
• Support the integration of newly acquired businesses.
• Manage payroll processes and liaise with external providers.
• Prepare year-end information with external accountants and auditors.
• Provide practical financial insight and commercial support to the FD and senior management.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and profitability.
• Support development of the finance function as the group grows.
• Develop finance systems during Sage Intacct transition.
