Job summary

IPS Finance in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead day-to-day finance and a team of five, reporting to the Finance Director.

You will oversee month-end reporting, budgeting and cash flow, and support integration of acquired businesses while upgrading the finance systems from Sage to Sage Intacct.

This hands-on role requires a commercially minded professional who thrives in a growth-focused SME environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified or QBE accountant with strong financial controls.
• Experience in SME or group environments.
• Hands-on, commercially minded with ownership mindset.
• Experience with month-end reporting.
• Comfortable with external accountants/auditors.

Responsibilities

• Managing and developing a finance team of five.
• Producing monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and planning.
• Overseeing ledgers, payments, invoicing and reconciliations.
• Maintaining strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity.
• Monitoring income, expenditure, profitability and cash flow.
• Assisting with year-end activities and external auditors.
• Providing financial insight to the FD and senior management.
• Leading finance system upgrades, including Sage to Sage Intacct.
• Developing processes to improve profitability.
• Supporting integration of acquired businesses.
