Job summary

IPS Group Limited in Wakefield is seeking a Financial Director to lead the finance function, reporting to the owners and senior management. This hands-on FD will balance detailed financial control with strategic commercial input to help shape the business's future direction.

You will drive cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting, develop the finance team as the business grows, and explore AI initiatives to improve efficiency and decision making within the construction supply chain.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with proven FD level experience.
• Hands-on, commercially minded finance leader close to operations.
• Strong strategic and analytical skills; able to influence owners and management.
• Experience in construction sector or logistics/distribution is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the finance function with strong control and reporting.
• Provide commercial insight to support business performance, profitability and growth.
• Work closely with owners and senior management on strategic decision‑making.
• Drive improvements across finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Support AI initiatives and new technology to improve efficiency and decision‑making.
• Provide robust cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Challenge and support the wider business using financial information to improve performance.
• Maintain a hands‑on approach while developing the finance function as the business grows.
