Job description

We are looking for a Finance Analyst to join our Finance Department. You will be responsible for processing and recording all income including rent, service charges, and other receipts. The role involves daily bank reconciliations, uploading SAF files from CX to SUN, processing decoration allowances and tenant payments, raising weekly, monthly, and quarterly rent debits, and managing suspense account clearance. This is a hands‑on role requiring excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to daily deadlines. You will liaise with various departments and external parties including banking and housing benefit providers to ensure efficient income processing and accurate financial records. The role has a hybrid working arrangement with a minimum requirement of 3 days a week at our head office based in Victoria. Additional working days in the head office, as dictated by your Line Manager, may be required depending on priorities and essential meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Daily income processing and bank reconciliations
  • Processing decoration allowances and tenant payments
  • Uploading SAF files from CX to SUN
  • Raising weekly, monthly, and quarterly rent debits
  • Managing suspense account clearance and ledger reviews
  • Processing Giro, Standing Orders, All Pay and Barclays rent downloads daily, resolving any errors before uploading to CX
  • Administering the Tenants' Decoration Allowance scheme accurately and efficiently, ensuring tenants are reimbursed promptly with the correct allowance
  • Processing other tenant payments including bereavement allowances and condolence payments
  • Managing the charging of rents and other income, ensuring data is accurate and up to date, and ensuring weekly, bi‑weekly and monthly rent debits are accurately run
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with Housing Benefit departments and DWP offices to ensure the effective processing of claims, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of housing benefit regulations and their place within the wider Universal Credit scheme
  • Processing rent adjustments and ACR (Additional Charge Recovery) postings and adjustments
  • Reviewing tenant and ACR ledgers for unusual balances, particularly credit balances, and taking appropriate action
  • Liaising with CX and SUN regarding rent debit errors and scheduling issues
  • Setting up new suppliers and managing supplier bank account detail changes as required
  • Processing bad debts and charitable rent donations as required
  • Handling cash collections and counting as needed
  • Liaising with Barclays, Insignis, Telleroo, Soldo, etc regarding queries, cancelled cheques, direct debits, and payment recalls
  • Assisting with company and land registry searches as required for HM and PSD departments
  • Preparing rent reports before period closedown
  • Assisting the finance team with the processing and payments of invoices and responding to contractor queries regarding non‑payment of invoices
  • Ensuring compliance with the Trust's policies and procedures and legal obligations
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as directed
Qualifications
  • AAT, ACCA, or CIMA qualification, or working towards an accountancy qualification
  • At least 3 years' experience in a finance role with income processing and bank reconciliation responsibilities
  • Experience of income processing and rent accounting
  • Experience of daily bank reconciliations
  • Experience of inputting financial data into accountancy systems
  • Experience of communicating with colleagues at all levels
  • Clear attention to detail whilst maintaining sight of the bigger picture for the team
  • Competent user of MS Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Experience in the use of accounts & office IT systems, including CX and SUN
  • Experience working in a housing association or charity sector
