Job summary

Mortimer House Kitchen in London is seeking a Restaurant Host to set the tone from arrival to departure, guiding guests through breakfast, lunch and dinner service with warmth and efficiency.

You will coordinate reservations, walk-ins and events, liaise with the floor team, and ensure every guest feels looked after from the moment they step in until they leave with a lasting impression.

Qualifications

• Experience in a host or guest-facing role is essential.
• Have a warm, polished and professional demeanour.
• Remain calm and organised when the restaurant is busy.
• Able to remember guest preferences and orders.
• Willing to work a mix of days, evenings, weekends.

Responsibilities

• Welcome every guest warmly.
• Manage the host stand: reservations, walk-ins and waitlists.
• Work with the floor team on table readiness, pacing and sections.
• Keep our reservations system accurate throughout every shift.
• Share guest requests, dietary needs and occasions with the team before sitting.
• Answer phone and in-person enquiries about bookings, private dining and events.
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them back.
• Keep the entrance and host area immaculate.
