Job summary

Crafted at Powdermills in East Sussex is seeking a friendly, professional Receptionist to be the first point of contact for guests and to keep front desk operations running smoothly. Reporting to the Reception Supervisor and Front of House Manager, you will check guests in/out, manage reservations, and provide exceptional service to ensure a memorable stay.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a customer-facing or front desk role, ideally in hospitality or a similar industry.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently.
• A detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Basic knowledge of reservation and hotel management systems is a plus.
• A passion for delivering exceptional guest service and ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed

Responsibilities

• Greet guests on arrival, manage check-ins/outs and record guest details accurately.
• Manage room reservations and bookings, note any special requests.
• Provide information about the hotel, amenities and local attractions; resolve guest requests.
• Handle guest billing and correspondence with accuracy and professionalism.
• Coordinate with the Reception Supervisor and team for smooth daily operations.
• Answer calls and emails, redirect inquiries and ensure timely follow-up.
• Maintain up-to-date guest profiles and reservation data with privacy.
• Promote hotel services and local attractions to enhance guest experience.
• Communicate important guest details during shift handovers.
• Keep front desk and back office clean, organized and compliant with health & safety.
• Assist with guest complaints, escalating when needed for positive resolutions.
• Experience using Mews, Revinate and Siteminder or similar platforms preferred but not essential
