Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Groundworks Foreman to join a construction project in Manchester.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering, with experience supervising site operatives, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

We are looking for a hands‑on Foreman who can take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of groundworks operations, maintain productivity on site and work closely with the Site Manager to ensure the project is delivered in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily groundworks operations.
• Manage groundworkers, subcontractors, plant and materials.
• Oversee drainage, foundations, ducting, kerbing, roads and associated infrastructure works.
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety across the site.
• Conduct toolbox talks and daily briefings where required.
• Monitor productivity and ensure labour and plant are used efficiently.
• Coordinate deliveries and material requirements.
• Liaise with the Site Manager and other trades to maintain progress.
• Check workmanship and ensure all works meet the required quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with RAMS and site procedures.
• Identify and resolve day-to-day site issues to minimise delays.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Groundworks Foreman within construction or civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of general groundworks, drainage and infrastructure.
• Valid CSCS card.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive, organised and hands‑on approach to site management.
