Job summary

RTL Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Groundworks Foreman for a residential housing project in Watford. You will oversee groundworks operations on site, manage labour and subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely and to a high standard on a busy residential development.

The role requires strong leadership, the ability to read drawings and levels, and a solid knowledge of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise groundworks teams and subcontractors on a residential development.

• Liaise with Site Management, engineers and subcontractors to stay on programme.
• Check levels, line, falls and grade for accuracy.
• Conduct daily briefings and toolbox talks.
• Maintain site safety and RAMS compliance.
• Monitor quality and resolve issues promptly.
• Keep daily records of labour, plant, materials and site progress.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping on site.

Groundworks Foreman - Residential Housing Project

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire

Position: Groundworks Foreman

We are currently looking for an experienced Groundworks Foreman to join a residential housing development in Watford. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing groundworks operations on site, managing labour and subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate groundworks teams and subcontractors on a busy residential development.
• Oversee foundations, drainage, excavation, concrete works, roads, kerbing, ducting and external works.
• Read and work from construction drawings, specifications and levels.
• Coordinate labour, plant and materials to maintain progress and productivity.
• Liaise with Site Management, engineers and subcontractors to ensure works remain on programme.
• Check levels, line, falls and grade to ensure works are completed correctly.
• Carry out daily briefings and toolbox talks.
• Ensure all works comply with RAMS, health and safety requirements and site procedures.
• Monitor the quality of completed works and resolve any issues promptly.
• Maintain daily records of labour, plant, materials and site progress.
• Ensure the site is kept organised, safe and to a high standard of housekeeping.
• Work closely with the Site Manager to meet project deadlines and construction targets.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Groundworks Foreman or experienced Groundworker.
• Strong knowledge of residential groundworks and construction.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and levels.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively.
• Relevant site experience and appropriate construction qualifications/cards.
