Qualifications

• CSCS card holder; SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.

Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Groundworks Foreman for a project in London, overseeing Section 278 works and external works packages.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering, with proven experience supervising site teams and delivering highway works, drainage, kerbing, paving and external infrastructure to a high standard.

We are looking for a hands-on, proactive Foreman who can manage day-to-day site activities, coordinate labour and subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all Section 278 and external works on site.
• Manage groundworkers, subcontractors, plant and materials.
• Oversee highway works, road construction, kerbing, footpaths, paving and associated drainage.
• Manage external works, including hard landscaping, access roads, car parks and paved areas.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety across the site.
• Coordinate deliveries, labour and plant to ensure works run efficiently.
• Liaise with the Site Manager and other site teams to maintain progress.
• Carry out toolbox talks and daily briefings where required.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure all works meet the required quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with RAMS, site procedures and relevant health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Groundworks Foreman within construction or civil engineering.
• Experience delivering Section 278 works and external works packages.
• Good knowledge of drainage, kerbing, paving, roads and associated infrastructure.
• Valid CSCS card.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to managing site teams.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
