Job summary

Mitie Landscapes is recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative for 40 hours per week in the UK. The role is permanent and full-time, offering £13.10 per hour. Work locations include Bath, Bristol, Swindon, and Chippenham, with site-based duties and canal network maintenance in partnership with Canal & River Trust.

You will report to the Contracts Manager and contribute to keeping waterways and surroundings in good condition, supporting safety and accessibility.

Qualifications

• Must enjoy outdoor work and maintain outdoor spaces.
• Willingness to work in a flexible, agile environment.
• Good smartphone technology understanding for site reporting.
• Grounds maintenance experience is required.
• Valid full driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain canal network grass and hedge clearances.
• Provide information and reporting to management, including hazards.
• Operate all vehicles and machinery per safety procedures.
• Undertake training as required.

Mitie Landscapes has an exciting opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team at the UKs market leading FM company. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will be supporting them in ensuring your team deliver the exceptional every day.

You will be working in partnership with Canal & River Trust is the UK's largest canal charity, who care for a 2,000-mile network of stunning canals and navigable rivers.

The 250-year-old waterways in our care – the canals, embankments, culverts and reservoirs as well as the bridges, locks and towpaths – and their vital ecosystems are threatened by the growing impact of climate change and more extreme weather. You will be responsible for.

• Maintaining the Canal network including grass cutting & hedge cutting,
• Providing management with relevant information and reporting as required, including reporting any site hazards.
• Operating all vehicles, machinery and equipment in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
• Undertaking training as and when required.
