Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director / Associate Director for the Ground Engineering Team in the UK. You will drive technical development, strengthen capabilities and grow the business through strong client relationships and leadership of the team.

In this pivotal senior role, you will oversee geotechnical data and analyses, guide design and construction phases, and mentor junior staff while delivering projects to time and budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with a 2:1 or higher.
• MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Familiarity with current design codes, standards and best practices in geotechnical design.
• Ability to collaborate in delivery, win work and maintain client satisfaction.
• Ability to network in local, regional and national markets to promote the AECOM brand.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Insightfulness and passion for developing future engineers and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations.
• Providing consultative advice to external partners during all project stages.
• Managing geotechnical projects with scheduling, coordination, and budget control.
• Providing leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team to meet time and quality targets.
• Maintaining relationships with past, current and prospective customers to support pipeline.
• Taking the Ground Engineering lead for multi-disciplinary project delivery to stakeholders.
• Collaborating with Ground Engineering, Tunnelling, Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams on works and tenders.
• Mentoring junior team members with guidance and support.
