Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director / Associate Director for Ground Engineering in the UK. You will drive technical development, lead a high-performing team, and grow client relationships across multi-disciplinary projects.

The role requires Chartered status, a civil engineering or geology degree, and strong knowledge of UK ground conditions. Hybrid working, global exposure, and a focus on delivering complex infrastructure projects are key.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with a 2:1 or higher.
• MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Chartered status.
• Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
• Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses and design calculations.
• Provide consultative advice to external partners during all project stages (site-selection, optioneering, design, construction).
• Manage geotechnical projects including planning, scheduling, coordination, and budget.
• Provide leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team to meet time and quality expectations.
• Maintain industry relationships to support a pipeline of opportunities and take the Ground Engineering lead for multi-disciplinary projects.
• Collaborate with Ground Engineering, Tunnelling, Transport, Water, Energy and Buildings teams on project works and tenders.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
