A renowned Yorkshire coffee company is seeking a Green Coffee Technician to join their team in Harrogate. The role requires conducting physical analyses and roasting green coffee samples while maintaining high quality standards. Ideal candidates will possess excellent IT skills and an eagerness to improve processes. You will taste various coffee samples daily and assist in operational decisions, ensuring the highest quality of coffee. Enjoy benefits like free meals, a profit-share bonus, and personal development opportunities.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our coffee buying team at Taylors of Harrogate as a Green Coffee Technician, following an internal promotion. At Taylors our Coffee Buyers are renowned for scouring the globe in their search for quality coffee and for building long-standing partnerships with coffee producers. We are looking for someone with a passion for coffee who can support them in ensuring that the quality standards and specifications of our green and roasted coffee are maintained. As a Green Coffee Technician, you will taste dozens of coffee samples every day and be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy coffee tasting room. In addition to learning all about our supply chain from crop to cup, you will also be involved in key operational quality decisions.
This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday (9am to 5pm). The Green Coffee Technician role is based in our coffee tasting room at our offices in Harrogate, where we blend and manufacture our premium range of tea and coffees. It is a hands-on position and therefore hybrid working is not available in this role.
Our ideal candidate will be well-organised and self-motivated with incredible attention to detail and a desire to improve processes and standards. You be able to work comfortably, both independently and as part of a team. You will have excellent IT skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and be highly competent at inputting, formatting and presenting data. You will also be comfortable presenting and hosting tastings for visitors. We're looking for someone who will be adaptable to a variety of tasks - equally happy to taste a counter of coffees or roast green samples. A demonstrable passion for coffee is essential and whilst full training will be given, previous coffee industry experience is preferred - whether in cupping, roasting, buying or as a barista.
As a minimum, all our employees receive free meals, drinks and snacks while at work, a discretionary quarterly profit-share bonus, holiday allowance with the option to buy and (in some cases) sell additional days, company-wide employee discounts, access to our health cash plan, wellbeing support, company funded counselling, and enrolment in the company pension. We also offer a range of development opportunities no matter your role and ambitions. We encourage everyone to explore what makes them the best version of themselves, and we do this through external training programmes, apprenticeships and internal 1:1 coaching schemes.
