Job summary

Cowi in London is seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer to join our Ground Engineering team. You will contribute to major UK infrastructure projects, working with experienced engineers who will guide your development toward Chartership.

This summer intake offers hands-on geotechnical design, data interpretation, field involvement, and a tailored development plan supporting your professional growth within a collaborative, office/home hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering (BEng, BSc, Meng, MSc), or Geology with MSc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering
• Motivation to become Chartered Engineer or Chartered Geologist
• Experience through year-in-industry, summer placements, or final year project with geotechnical/geology application
• Interest in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering, plus curiosity about subsurface behaviour
• Ability to work and collaborate within diverse, multi-disciplinary project teams
• Effective written and verbal communication to present findings clearly
• Commitment to quality, precision and technical excellence

Responsibilities

• Carry out geotechnical design activities from ground investigation data to calculations and reports
• Undertake site-based ground modelling, desk study and geotechnical design reports
• Support and supervise ground investigations on site across various ground conditions
• Check calculations and drawings to strengthen technical judgment
• Promote engineering best practice and use of in-house tools
• Plan workload with project manager and track progress against budget and programme
• Deliver own work responsibly with accuracy and quality
• Attend site visits or client meetings
